Poetry feels like a country I visit without a passport, where I look around furtively, grab hold of something precious, and try to smuggle it back across the border. Any poem I get written down feels like contraband to me.

There's nothing of any importance in life — except how well you do your work. Nothing. Only that. Whatever else you are, will come from that. It's the only measure of human value.

Working with [Robert] De Niro taught me a lot of being an actors' director and what that is. I've learned a lot from pretty much everybody. Hopefully I've picked up something from everybody I've worked with.

During civil disturbance adopt such an attitude that people do not attach any importance to you - they neither burden you with complicated affairs, nor try to derive any advantage out of you.

Very few things are as dangerous as a bunch of incentive-driven individuals trying to play it safe.

Success is the doing, not the getting - in the trying, not the triumph.

When the outlook isn't good, try the uplook - it's always good!

Once you reach the top of the mountain and you want to climb the next one, you have to slowly make your way down that first mountain. Trying to jump from the summit would get you hurt or killed.

My life has always been unplanned. So when something comes along, I feel like, Why not give it a try? It's fun to experiment like that.

I think what we try to do is bring the news to our viewers in a very comprehensive responsible way.

Honestly, I'm just consumed by the work. Everyday, I'm trying to come up with new stuff and do new things. I don't take time off. I'm always recording and working on my brand beyond just the music.

If the present tries to sit in judgment of the past, it will lose the future.

Trying to hit Sandy Koufax was like trying to drink coffee with a fork.

If you don't fail on a regular basis, you are not trying hard enough.

I'm a failed poet. Maybe every novelist wants to write poetry first, finds he can't, and then tries the short story, which is the most demanding form after poetry. And, failing at that, only then does he take up novel writing.
