Get back up when you're knocked down.
It was hard to follow my dreams... I didn't let anything stop me.
It's really nice to know hard work does pay off.
You learn how to persevere... to have discipline, you learn to lose, you learn to win, you learn how to not quit.
Through adversity we find our better self.
Back in '93 I saw my first UFC fight and just became enamored by it then.
It's my job to beat whoever the UFC puts in front of me. I don't really care who it is. Whoever they put in front of me, I will just try to go out and beat them.
Of course, we all know what UFC stands for - Undefeated Floyd's Champion
My injuries are a long way from my heart.
I feel good because it's my first finish in UFC. Training camp was long and hard and I prepared for a long fight but I have no complaints. I'm going to stay in this cycle and be this healthy in every camp. I feel great with this nutrition and the way my body has reacted to it. I'm firing on all cylinders. I've been talking about this move down for a long time and when you do it the right way you don't feel any effects. I don't want to make this harder than it needs to be. I've got great coaches and I know I haven't peaked yet. I’m going to keep getting better and I’m taking on all comers.
UFC, they can make a big star but the second that person loses, they lose credibility, and how do you continue to make that star rise?
I have a big belief that whatever your passion is in life, pursue it to the fullest and try to be the best at it.
I set little goals and as I hit those little goals I know they're moving me forward.
I am very honored and excited to be part of UFC 100, it's going to be the hardest challenge of my career so far and it's going to be pretty tough, I can't wait.
Trust me, I've seen a lot of fighters come in hot and they disappear faster than they came in after a loss or two. This is the UFC and the best fighters in the world are here. If you fight the great fighters you're bound to lose.
Live your life with a smile regardless the circumstances.
I'm training at everything. Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, striking. Everything. I think to be in the UFC, you have to be well rounded at everything. That's the goal.
The standard is the same. Don't get me wrong, the main difference is the number of sparring partners. Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn are the best coaches in the world in my opinion and in many other people's opinion but it really it comes down to the number of sparring partners. I go to my gym and I have 10 fighters fighting on the local level but when you go over there it's like 30 fighters all fighting in the UFC or other bigger shows. That's really the main thing; the numbers.
You just have to stay positive.
I remember coming across some DVDs of the UFC and so I started watching that and became a fan of it. It was a little boring because of all the grabbing and holding and I fast-forwarded through a lot of it, but I still watched because I like martial arts.
Vincent Forte was kicked out of the UFC because he was too hardcore.
I'm just really not even that huge of a UFC fan. If you go on my Instagram or Twitter, you will notice ... people that I've actually met and hung out with, you know, I'm not like a huge UFC guy.
I’m glad the UFC wanted to work with me as well, and I think that they trust that I’ll never make them look bad. You never have to worry about me with a DWI or doing something crazy
I've been involved in mixed martial arts since 1997 when I first started working for the UFC.
You have to stay focused out there and you can't get caught up in your emotions.
