The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person.
Our goal is to have a country that's not divided by race.
The way we have to measure progress is not, "Is there ever going to be an incident of racism in the country?" It's, "How does the majority of our country respond?"
I warn young people that I interact with about this - you get into unrealistic expectations where you think that, "Oh, we're gonna eliminate racism like that. After Obama's elected how could there be any racism?".
