Thus worshiping, serving, studying, praying, each in its own way squeezes selfishness out of us; pushes aside our preoccupations with the things of the world.
The hardest work you and I will ever do is to put off our selfishness. It is heavy lifting!
Stubborn selfishness leads otherwise good people to fight over herds, patches of sand, and strippings of milk. In our intense acquisitiveness, we forget Him who once said, "What is property unto me?"
Selfishness is much more than an ordinary problem because it activates all the cardinal sins! It is the detonator in the breaking of the Ten Commandments.
