The American dream has now morphed into an expectation. And if it isn't provided, or if it doesn't happen, then people feel cheated.
Most people have always done better than their parents, and their parents have done pretty well, and there's always been a sense of expectation or entitlement. It's part of being an American in a sense.
We're talking tens of thousands, millions, nobody gives you that kind of money without an expectation for it. It has to be paid back somehow. You pay it back with policy.
