Mindfulness is the direct application of Buddhist teachings to a physical event, a way of doing or accomplishing something, or a way of thinking and viewing something.
We are so absorbed in our thoughts that every thought that comes through is a reality. We have to start to detach ourselves from thought and become aware that there are things beyond thought.
In the state of emptiness, you are the action not the performer of the action. Allow an activity or event to take precedence over your own point of view.
Thinking is usually a waste of time and energy, since thinking is essentially a rehashing of what we already know. As a matter of fact, thinking is an easy way to confuse yourself. The more you think, the less you know.
When we practice mindfulness, our nonphysical side merges with the nonphysical side of that which we are experiencing.
How could being the entire cosmos and all of its wonder and all of its stages and cycles, and yet being that which is beyond them all, the invisible, be extinction? Extinction? The extinction of what, of whom? How can that which has never been be extinguished?
There is no movement in Nirvana. There is no sameness. And one does not consider it to be timeless because one is not one. It is you, my friend, who go away.
There is no such thing as a miracle. A miracle is just what somebody else doesn't understand. If we went back into the Stone Age and we lit a match, they'd say, "Ahh miracla, miracla!"
Buddhism is all about secrets.
Buddhism is the process of getting to that part of us that is always eternally happy.
The study of Buddhism is essentially the study of modification, how we modify the state of mind we're in, how we modify the realm we're in.
Buddhism suggests that you have that choice; you are in the driver's seat. Hertz or somebody has put you there. You have an absolute choice about what you experience in your mind.
Humility is my best friend, I've always valued it above all other spiritual qualities.
Humility is the most important quality in the spiritual life. When it is lacking spiritual growth stops.
If you have humility you are halfway to God-realization.
The only way you will advance spiritually is through humility.
If you seek eternity and light and luminosity, seek humility first ... first things first.
Humility is the time that you spend in love with existence.
Your life is pure joy, pure ecstasy, when you live in humility.
Humility has tremendous power. Think of Gandhi. That was humility in action. He changed the shape of an entire nation.
We prefer humility in others - and if we prefer it in others - we can soon prefer it in ourselves.
"The person next to me meditates better than I do. They're purer." - This is the ego feeling sorry for itself.
Humility accepts the very nature of a human being is complete, unadulterated, ecstatic joy.
Have a healthy respect and love for yourself, but don't be taken out by your ego.
Practice humility constantly. Whenever you start to think well of yourself, push those thoughts aside. Whenever you think ill of yourself, push those thoughts aside.
